Welcome to the Capital City Wanderers Website.
The Capital City Wanderers Walking Club is a volksmarching club affiliated with the American Volkssport Association (AVA). Although originally based in Montgomery, AL, (the source of the club’s name), it now has members throughout Alabama and holds volksmarch events throughout the State.
A volksmarch is a non-competitive 3.1 mile (5 kilometer) or 6.2 mile (10 kilometer) walk. It's not a pledge walk, it's not a race, it is a fun activity you do with a club, with your family, with your pet, or all by yourself.
Volkssporting in the United States is sponsored by the AVA which has over 300 active clubs throughout the USA. These local clubs, such as the Capital City Wanderers Walking Club host the walking events.
The AVA has a website – http://www.ava.org which has additional information on volksmarching, including a description of the sport, walk procedures, and links to volkssporting events throughout the USA.
