Scheduled Events for 2024












Registration for scheduled events will be at the event start point unless otherwise specified in the event brochure (see links below).  Due to the increasing fee the AVA is charging clubs per walk, we have raised our registration fee to $4 for IVV credit.  For walkers not seeking IVV credit (aka “Guest Walkers”), if a person is walking as a first-time guest at one of our group walks, they can walk for free, and the club will pick up the $2 fee for that walk. For any subsequent times they walk with us, they will be required to pay the $2 guest fee.

NEXT GROUP WALK

Our next group walk will be Saturday, November 16, 2024. We will be walking our Montevallo, AL Year Round Event. We will meet at 10:00 a.m. at the bank parking lot across the street from our old Start point which was at 845 Valley St, Montevallo, AL.

   
OUR MONTEVALLO WALK NOW USES ONLY THE ONLINE START BOX. IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO WALK WITH US, YOU MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE USING THE ONLINE START BOX (OSB) AT THE AVA WEBSITE https://my.ava.org/find-an-event.php   

Directions to the Start Point: Take Exit 228 off of I-65. Take AL Hwy 25 S through Calera. Go right on Hwy 155 N.(Middle St) Cross Hwy 119 (Main St) Continue on Middle St. Take next Right onto Valley St. The bank parking lot is on your right.

Following the walk, we will have lunch at Boondocks Barbeque in Brierfield, AL, which is 4 miles south of Montevallo. The address is 19717 Highway 139, Brierfield, Alabama 35035.

Year Round Events (YRE)

The Capital City Wanderers offers 7 events that may be walked during daylight hours, any day the start point is opened though December 31, 2024.  At each location except Monroeville and Montevallo, there is a "Volksmarch Box" or "Walk Box" which contains instructions for registering.  For Monroeville and Montevallo, we are only using the Online Start Box feature on the AVA website.   Every participant must register.  Additional information can be found on the AVA website under Find a Walk.

Conditions

Everyone is welcome to participate.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  Pets must be on a leash at all times.  Litter should be discarded in proper receptacles.  No alcoholic beverages are allowed along the course.
